1. Browser
The Electude LMS and e-learning content require a modern, standards-compliant browser. Typically any popular recent browser will work, minimum versions are:
- Chrome 55+
- Edge 15+
- Firefox 52+
- Safari 11+
- Opera 42+
- Samsung Internet 6.2+
Internet Explorer is not supported.
All software is HTML5, CSS and JavaScript in combination with images, video and sound. JavaScript must be enabled. No browser plugins are needed.
For (LTI) integrations with third party LMSes the browser has to accept third-party cookies.
2. Display resolution
On computers the minimum display resolution is 800 x 600 pixels, on mobile phones the minimum display resolution is 360 x 640 pixels. These minimum values assume that the complete area can be used by the browser to display content (in full screen mode). To use the Electude LMS or content integrated in 3rd party software (e.g. via SCORM or LTI), a higher resolution will be required, depending on the additional area used by the 3rd party software.
For complex e-learning content, with for example simulations and interactive schematics a much higher resolution is recommended, as this greatly improves the user experience.
3. Hardware requirements
The hardware requirements vary greatly with the browser and operating system of choice. See the browser documentation for details. The recommended requirements of the browser serve as a baseline.
As the e-learning is a resource intensive HTML5 application, the speed of the processor and the amount of RAM must be well above the recommended requirements of the browser.
The graphical performance of the system depends on and should match the used display resolution.
4. Network and bandwidth
A continuous Internet connection is required to use the LMS and the e-learning.
In general Electude requires little bandwidth. On average a student using the e-learning downloads 10MB of data per hour. Most bandwidth typically is consumed at the start of an e-learning module. Note that the amount of data varies by (type of) e-learning module. E.g. summative tests typically require less bandwidth while video-based how-to modules will require (much) more bandwidth.
5. IP / Domain allow list
To ensure emails from the Electude LMS are received and HTTP requests to external services (e.g. to send results through LTI) are accepted, the following IP addresses should be allowed by mail servers and firewalls:
108.62.123.131
149.210.239.10
149.210.242.49
149.210.243.92
149.210.244.13
173.234.109.24
207.244.97.110
2401:d040:1002:104:1c00:a3ff:fe00:ef
Important note: these IP addresses are subject to change. A text only list for automatic processing is available here.
Emails from the Electude LMS will have an electude.org or electude.com sender.
